Expressing Love for Lost People
The GCF in Action
The Alliance is grateful for God’s faithful provision through the Great Commission Fund (GCF) to send, support and equip light-bearers around the world. Our love for lost people is expressed in more than 60 countries, through ministries made possible by gifts to the GCF.
Saved from Human Trafficking
At NewHope schools in Cambodia, 400 Vietnamese children, all illegal immigrants, receive elementary education as well as help to become Cambodian citizens. The students then receive scholarships for ongoing middle school and high school education. Supported by generous gifts to the GCF, NewHope helps to keep children from the bondage of human/sex trafficking.
The Least of These
Alliance workers have organized children’s educational centers in poor districts on the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. This GCF initiative also provides the location and impetus for small neighborhood churches to be planted.
U.S. Church Planting
Journey4Life, an Alliance church planted in Gulfport, Mississippi, after Hurricane Katrina, recently launched the Liberty Café, which will create an environment for “bringing individual freedom to a hurting community through the indwelling life of Christ,” says Pastor Darren Sanford. Profits will be donated to ministries combating human trafficking. GCF funding and the help of nearly 400 volunteers have made Journey-4Life a light in a struggling city.
Marketplace ministries
Often funded through the businesses they establish or funds they raise for their own support (many times including a portion from the GCF), marketplace ministries (mm) workers continue to build relationships and share the gospel in places where traditional workers can’t. A strategic partnership was formed between an mm worker, who is a psychologist, and a GCF-funded worker to establish a counseling center that reaches into earthquake ravaged areas of Asia, not only providing help for traumatized people but also training locals in how to provide continued assistance.
Finding Hope at Dorcas House
Because you gave to the GCF, Alliance international workers and interns in Burkina Faso share the story of God’s redemption with residents of Dorcas House, a home that offers mentoring to women who otherwise would be on the streets. With tears and joy, seven gave their lives to Christ, and each received her own Bible. “I do not need to eat anything today—I have this Bible,” one recipient said. “It is enough to satisfy me.”
