Strategic Ministry Opportunities {2010-2011}

Help Build a Halfway House in Thailand

The Isaan people of northeast Thailand—with nearly 25 million individuals—are one of the largest unreached and unevangelized people groups in the world. “Team Isaan,” an Alliance church-planting initiative, includes a “halfway house” that serves as a transitional home for men and women who have been released from prison. The facility, called the Life Development and Job Training Center, provides residents with spiritual counseling, job training and leadership development. The center needs funds to complete building renovations as well to provide capital for micro-enterprises.

Amount Needed: $25,000

Renovate a Strategic Church/Seminary Facility in Brazil

After 48 years of ministry in Brazil, the U.S. Alliance team will turn over the work to the Brazilian national church in 2013. Alliance workers there have a strong desire to assist in finishing the renovation and expansion of the Airport Alliance Church, which has already planted two daughter churches in the mega-city of São Paulo. Funds will provide an expanded church sanctuary, classrooms and office space for the Alliance Bible Seminary and a headquarters for the Brazilian national church.

Amount Needed: $55,000

Help Complete a Church/Training Center in China

Believers in central China have acquired land but do not have the additional resources to construct a sorely needed church building. Some 800 believers currently meet in a condemned warehouse. Repairing the church is not an option according to city officials, so the church must build elsewhere. The city government provided the church with land in a newly developing area at a very reasonable price, with the condition that the church build an attractive structure. The congregation has raised substantial funds but needs additional help to complete the project.

Amount Needed: $35,000

Support a Soccer Outreach among African Men

In North Africa, a new Christian is involved in a soccer outreach and mentoring program for young men, ages 18–24. This energetic coach is involved in a variety of other outreaches, including showing the JESUS film to families of soccer players. Last month, 20 people were baptized as a result of these ministries. Funds are needed to help pay for soccer team supplies, evangelistic activities and the coach’s living expenses.

Amount Needed: $17,500

Invest in New Business Startups in Creative-Access Countries

Alliance workers in countries closed to traditional clergy serve as business representatives of U.S./foreign companies. This role enables our workers to visit the homes and workplaces of local business owners. Funds are needed to provide capital for viable business ventures. The purpose of this approach is to create opportunities to share the gospel with people who would never otherwise hear about Christ’s love.

Amount Needed: $57,500

Provide Books and Resources for a Training Center in Mongolia

Christian literature and theological resources in Mongolia are scarce. Administrators of The Christian Leadership Training Center in Darhan, Mongolia, are seeking to develop a quality library and multimedia resource center that will equip Christian leaders for their ministries. The library/resource center will enable students and leaders to conduct research, participate in education and pursue personal spiritual growth.

Amount Needed: $25,000
