The Power of Partnership

Over the last year and a half I’ve had the honor of serving as managing editor for Alliance Life magazine. I’ve been awestruck by the scope of heart-rending stories pouring in from every sector of Alliance ministry—testimonies of healing, rescue, revival, miracles, and remarkable salvations—that I’ve been privileged to read and share with you.

COVID-19 may have changed the circumstances surrounding these stories, but the heart and mission behind them—all of Jesus for all the world—has not. In the midst of the chaos, more lives have eternally changed through encounters with Jesus thanks to a sacred partnership—our workers’ creativity and nimbleness uplifted by the Alliance family’s bold generosity.

Out of this season a theme has emerged: “This will change the way we do ministry forever.” COVID-19 has shaped what we’ve gone through and also what we’re going to: not back to business as usual, but to something new.

The most cataclysmic event in history is the gospel story, and the world has never been the same. None of us who encounter Jesus is ever the same. So, it should come as no surprise that when He does a new thing in and through us during crises, our work will never be the same.

So how do we navigate this strange season of transition and remain on mission? Jesus’ answer is clear: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and . . . love your neighbor as yourself” (Matt. 22:37–38).

As this pandemic has revealed, our partnership in Christ is powerful to overcome heavy challenges. These same bonds will take us through the days ahead, equipping us to do more together than we can individually.

My own personal time of transition is making this clearer than ever. On June 1, I transitioned from managing editor of Alliance Life to Alliance manager for strategic projects and foundations. In this new role, I tell stories focused on specific ministries of global Alliance workers, connecting their projects with strong partners to create new opportunities for the gospel’s advance.

I invite you to engage with me. Does a particular Alliance work or worker tug at your heartstrings? Do you feel the plight of a certain people group and feel called to do more to help? Please let me know. I want to help connect your passions and resources with work in the field that will attain new life because of you. Email me at: [email protected].

I look forward to the new thing God is calling us to as we journey together through this profound time of transition.

  1. Thank you, Dr. Tee, for bringing this to our attention. We have had some staff transitions and this issue’s “With the Lord” section somehow was left out of the online version of the magazine. We will work to add it in the days ahead. Once again, thanks for letting us know and we apologize for the inconvenience.

  2. What happened to the ‘with the Lord’ section? it was one of the few ways I could update on old friends.
