. . . But Not Crushed

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed (2 Corinthians 4:8,9).

Against all odds, Alliance workers and members of a Middle East national church have withstood an onslaught of physical, emotional, relational, and financial problems to ensure the provision of daily needs for people caught up in ongoing conflict in their country in 2007. Despite, heavy obstacles, the Lord is keeping His hand on the work of these selfless people, who remain faithful in the face of great adversity.
Local believers have organized a humanitarian outreach that has impacted hundreds of lives through practical demonstrations of God’s love. Approximately 60 families each month have been blessed through the organization with daily staples and medical help. Students also have received scholarships to universities.

Not only has God faithfully provided for the affected families, but His Spirit has been faithful to draw many to Jesus. More than 40 people have made decisions to follow Him this year.
During this challenging time, four team members have also undergone surgical procedures and four church members have become seriously ill. Vehicles have been stolen, houses robbed, and relatives killed. The enemy seeks to destroy what God has established, but He continues to sustain His people. “God has done a work in our lives that runs deep,” says one worker. “He is strengthening our feet on the Rock that does not shake.”
Several successful prayer conferences this year have  reminded believers of the significance of belonging to the larger Body of Christ. “The prayer conferences brought people to their knees to face God in a new way,” says one participant. New team members have matured and been given new responsibilities in the field, and two members have sought training in other venues that would support the ministry.

“We will continue to introduce hurting people to Jesus’ love and compassion as we extend the helping hand of mercy,” our worker added. “Food and medicine are basic needs that too many people live without. We bring them hope that not only satisfies the hungry stomach but also the hungry soul.”
