Churches Overflowing in Burkina

Worshipers in Burkina Faso

“Last Sunday, approximately 700 people attended a service in Sifirasso—24 put their faith in Christ for the first time!” reports a U.S. international worker, who serves the national Alliance church in Burkina Faso. “The open air church that was built in 2012 is too small to contain the many new believers in this village!”

According to the village’s pastor, many people are coming to Christ each week. “Pray for this pastor as he facilitates discipleship for the new believers,” the worker adds. “Pray also for protection from false doctrine; a false prophet is leading some people astray.”

More Growth

In the village of Sinanni, a church plant was initiated when a resident was miraculously healed. There are now between 15 and 20 new young believers in this village. The group has reportedly already outgrown its small meeting place.

In addition, a new church plant in Koutura village, in the Comoe region, will have a new open-air shelter built in early October. The shelter was purchased through the Deltona (Florida) Alliance Church’s Clean Water Initiative.

“Many of the men who pastor our church plants are students at Alliance Bible schools and will return to school in November,” the Alliance worker continues. “Pray for good discipleship and strong lay leaders to emerge in support of these church plants—before these student pastors leave for six months.”

  • “A new Christian high school will begin classes on October 1 in Orodara,” the  Alliance worker adds. “Pray that this school will be a catalyst for the growth of the church in the town, which is a provincial capital.”
