Alliance Church Plant in the Dominican Republic Sees Major Growth Spurts

“The children’s area is at capacity, and we are praying about the need for more space.”

Based on an update by Zac and Julie Stutler, Alliance international workers serving in the Dominican Republic

Alianza, a four-year-old church plant in Punta Cana, the Dominican Republic, has experienced exciting growth recently, report Alliance international workers Julie and Zac Stutler.

When the Stutlers left for home assignment in 2014, the church had one small group. Since then, three more groups have been established, in communities where there is no evangelical church. Also, attendance at Sunday worship services has been steadily growing each week, with standing-room-only at various times.

More Space Needed

A graduation ceremony was held recently for Alianza Kids, the church’s children’s ministry, which continues to grow in number as new families attend the congregation. “The children’s area is at capacity, and we are praying about the need for more space,” the Stutlers say. “God is doing great things.”

One young teen had come as a little boy to Alianza’s first Bible camp, found Jesus, and was promoted to AliTeens, the church’s youth ministry. “It is hard to find words to express the joy in our hearts as he stood in front of more than 120 people and thanked God for Alianza Kids and all he had learned through the years,” say the Stutlers.

Zac and Julie also rejoice that God is raising up adults in the congregation with strong callings to reach teens. AliTeens is connecting with local teenagers with great success, and discipleship classes are beginning for those who want to grow deeper in their relationship with Christ.

Step of Faith

“All of this growth is creating a wonderful ‘problem’ and challenge,” the Stulters state. “We need to look for a larger facility, as there are really no expansion possibilities in the building where we are now located. Please pray for this important need.” Zac is heading up a search committee to investigate possibilities for additional space and a permanent building. “This is a huge step of faith, but we serve an amazing God.

“These are just a few examples of the exciting things He is doing. You have been a part of each moment through your faithful prayers and sacrificial giving to the Great Commission Fund, our Approved Specials, and more. How we thank God for you!”
