Alliance Chaplain Holds Easter Services in Iraq

Worship service attendance among soldiers in Iraq has increased weekly.

Despite the rain, a group of soldiers gathered outside for an Easter sunrise service in Baghdad.

C&MA Chaplain (LTC) David Bowlus conducted five Easter services for soldiers and coalition members on Forward Operating Base Union III in Iraq.

Many other services were held across the Combined Joint Force Land Component Command–Operation Inherent Resolve (CJFLCC-OIR) area of operations in celebration of Christ’s Resurrection.

Worship service attendance among soldiers in Iraq has increased weekly, according to an article in ClarksvilleNOW.com. At Base Union III, a choir formed recently and performed during Easter services.

Chaplaincy personnel in Iraq provide soldiers and coalition members with counseling services, host Bible studies and prayer breakfasts, and offer other types of spiritual support. “Chaplains also help to assist commanders to teach the value of life and suicide prevention classes,” the article says.

“Pray for Ch. Dave Bowlus, his unit, and his family,” urges C&MA Military Chaplain Endorser, Chaplain (LTC) Bob Collins, U.S. Army (ret.), executive director for Alliance Chaplain Ministries. “Also, pray that Dave would see fruit for his faithful service among non-Christians.”

Alliance chaplains represent Jesus in challenging, diverse places where traditional ministries often have few, if any, opportunities to proclaim the gospel. Many chaplains serve in dangerous areas of our world. Please pray for our chaplains as they serve God and country through their ministry to military members and their families, war veterans, professional staff, and federal prisoners.
