Jesus, Coffee, and the Gospel

When Dan’s religious teacher didn’t know how to answer his questions about Jesus, Dan said, “Why don’t we ask one of His followers?”

By Andy and Lora Brake, serving with The Alliance in Indonesia

It is exciting to see God move in the lives of our church members. Yosi, who is also one of our Bible school students, recently had the opportunity to share the gospel with Dan,* a member of the majority religion.

Dan had a dream about Jesus and had asked his religious teacher for more information. When his teacher didn’t know how to answer his questions, Dan said, “Why don’t we ask one of His followers?”

Sometime later, Yosi stopped at the coffee shop Dan owns. The men began to talk, and Yosi said he was on his way to a church retreat. When Dan realized that Yosi was a Christian, he told him about his dream. Yosi was invited back to talk more about Jesus.

During their next meeting, Yosi asked Dan if he was sure he would go to heaven if he died tonight. “I know I’m not going to die before I meet Jesus,” he replied.

The two made an appointment to meet again. Recently, Yosi gave Dan a copy of the Bible; he is reading the Book of Mark. Please pray that the Lord will open Dan’s eyes to the truth of the gospel. Also, pray that he will agree to attend a Bible study with Hanny, who pastors the church we planted and lives near Dan’s neighborhood.

“Everything began to change the night I had a dream,” said Sidiki, an Alliance believer in Mali. Read his story.

A man and his two sons were amazed to discover they all had the same dream. Read about it in Alliance Life magazine.
