AboutFamilyRegions › Asia/Pacific

The first Alliance missionaries arrived in Asia/Pacific in the late 1800s, bringing God’s Word to people previously untouched by the gospel. Pioneer missionary Robert A. Jaffray sailed for China in 1896. In 1911, he and two other missionaries entered Annam (now Vietnam), a part of French Indo-China, and established the first Protestant mission in the area.

Today, more than 40 million people worship in Alliance churches in ten countries throughout Asia Pacific, from the biological diverse rainforests of Papua to the congested streets of Tokyo. Thousands of C&MA churches in the region are engaged in evangelism, church planting, theological education, medical ministries, and relief and development work. Whether it is bringing life & love to migrants, walking with drug addicts into ultimate freedom, to providing minority children an education, Alliance workers and their national partners are sharing Christ’s love with people in desperate need throughout this vast region.
