Prayer Letter/Ministry Update

Dear Friends:

I understand the fall season is moving toward winter for you there. We officially moved into winter on October 23. Temperatures are dipping into the 70’s at night and seldom go over 90 during the day. It’s wonderful! Thailand is officially opening to tourists starting November 1st! Those who can prove they have had both vaccinations will only have one night of quarantine (they will be given a test upon arrival and must wait 24 hours for the result before going anywhere). Those without vaccinations still do 2 weeks of quarantine but they will have more options of where to quarantine. They will be able to go various places within the city of their quarantine but must return to their quarantine hotel every night. They will be given periodic swabs throughout those 2 weeks. All of this gives me hope in receiving short term teams starting summer of 2022!
Several of our Lay Leadership Development groups have completed their studies in the past few months but we were not able to give out diplomas due to covid. Well, that has changed and for the next couple of months we will be visiting the churches and celebrating the graduation of their students. One church close to my heart started their studies almost 10 years ago with their pastor leading a group of 4 students. Early on one of the students dropped due to lack of time and then the pastor dropped out because of alcohol addiction. I stepped in and led this group for a couple of years. Later another student dropped leaving a brother and sister with another missionary who came to lead the group. Cancer took the life of the brother this past month – leaving Yupa as the only student left. Praise the Lord she is going to continue her studies – just 2 more lessons left and a final exam – with plans to officially graduate in December! Thank you for your support in praying for this ministry to the churches.
In His service,
Debbie
